The application deadline for this programme is 1 April for all students.
This highly selective programme is a unique combination of academic education in international relations and political science, featuring practice-oriented courses and training in international negotiations and diplomacy. We welcome students from all around the world who demonstrated excellence in prior academic education, have a professional experience in the area of international relations and diplomacy and have the commitment to study in an international and academically demanding environment. Students will benefit from experiential learning opportunities in Brussels, Geneva and The Hague. The first year of the programme includes a compulsory internship, and the programme culminates with a written research thesis. This advanced programme is taught jointly by the Institute of Security and Global Affairs, the Institute of Political Science and the Netherlands Institute of International Relations Clingendael.

Career options include international diplomacy, government and non-governmental organisations, national or international public administrations, ‘think tanks’ and research institutions, international interest associations or international business.

Best preparatory degree

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in political science, international relations, international law, public administration, economics, sociology or history.
