Leiden University’s Classics and Ancient Civilizations Research programme ranked 10th in the 2023 QS World University Rankings by Subject. This programme consists of all areas of current research into the civilizations of Greece, Rome and the Ancient Near East. Research is placed in a broader context, and the programme makes creative use of a wide range of research methods.
Graduates work as junior researchers in an academic environment. Outside academia, career options include working within the fields of publishing or teaching, at policy-making departments of governmental bodies, within the education sector, or within cultural tourism.
A bachelor’s degree in a field related to the specialisation. Specialisation-specific knowledge is also required.
