This joint Master programme will equip you with the necessary competences to play a key role in the emerging field of transfusion medicine. Its current concept includes both transfusion of blood components and hematopoietic transplants, cellular and tissue therapy and immunotherapy. The Master is a collaboration between Leiden University (LUMC) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. This master can be started in October every two years, so October 2025 will be the next opportunity. This two year programme is unique due to the fact it is parttime (60 EC in total) and 100% online therefore you can follow this master from anywhere in the world. By following this programme, you will acquire and develop specific competences in analysing and applying the latest advances in transfusion medicine and cellular therapies. These include competences related to donor management, technical-process design, identification of quality indicators, selection of blood components for clinical use, laboratory diagnosis, cellular therapies and activities in support of scientific knowledge that are complementary to the teaching programme.

Best preparatory bachelor’s

University graduates in Medicine, Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences and Biology or equivalent. University graduates in Nursing with a minimum of 4-year experience in transfusion medicine services.

Language proficiency

100% in English or bilingual Spanish and English. Students taking the Master’s degree in English must be able to accredit knowledge of English language (B1 or equivalent) and those taking the degree in Spanish must be able to accredit Spanish language (B2 or equivalent). Where students do not have official accreditation, this knowledge will be tested in an interview with the Master’s Degree Coordination Committee.
