This master’s programme in Economics will give you the training you need to become the policy economist of the future. It will enable you to make connections between economic theories, scientific methods and their application to relevant social issues within Dutch policy. The unique curriculum will also introduce you to administrative relationships and effective policy communication (in Dutch), perfectly preparing you for a future career as a policy economist.

Career

Upon completion of this master's degree programme, you will be able to take up a master’s-level policy position within a governmental or semi-public institution. You could work as an economist or policy officer for a Dutch ministry, planning agency, provincial authority, municipality, implementing organisation, knowledge institution or consultancy firm. You could also work for a civil society organisation such as an employers' association, trade union, pension fund or trade association.

Best preparatory bachelor’s

Leiden University’s bachelor’s programme in Economics or Business Administration, the specialisation in Economics, Public Administration and Management (EBM) or a similar programme such as Politics, Philosophy and Economics or a bachelor’s degree in Economics & Society.
