International terrorism, organised crime, armed conflict, cyber incidents, natural, health and industrial crises affect the security and safety of millions each day.
This programme teaches students to analyse and address contemporary security and safety challenges. Using various theoretical lenses, students unravel security cases by focusing on the political, historical, and societal context, but also on governance structures, institutions, and the role of the media. Special attention is given to the development of academic and professional skills, such as: critical thinking, writing, communication, research, teamwork, intercultural skills, organisational and leadership skills. But also on the application of these skills in contemporary security and safety cases. Graduates can find employment in both the public and private sector in various roles, such as a security policy officer, security consultant, risk manager or strategic security advisor.
