‘In my free time I love to go out with friends to cafes, brunch places, workshops such as jar making, ceramic painting classes. My favorite café is Bootjes, you get rowed in by a boat because it’s in the middle of a tiny island. I also love to do yoga and pilates, and dance lessons at the university sports center.’

Our faculty buildings, Wijnhaven and newly-opened Spui, are located right in the city centre and within walking distance of one another. With over 30,000 students, The Hague is a real student city full of extracurricular and social activities, many shops, restaurants, cozy cafés, museums and theatres. The city’s urban vibe is perfectly balanced with access to nature and the coast. Hop on your bike or take the tram to visit Scheveningen pier, stroll through the dunes, or have a drink at one of the many beach bars on the boulevard. With Leiden only 11 minutes away by train, you get the best of both cities.
‘The Hague is a very pretty city to bike in or nice to just walk around. Culturally speaking, there’s a lot of things to do. There are museums, the city houses and many embassies. There’s a park next to where I live so I usually go on runs with my friends. We have picnics there as well. My favorite cafe is called ‘Café Bleu’. It’s along a canal, kind of hidden away and a really small sanctuary in the middle of the city. Really cute.’
